Year 2008 - A New Chapter Unfolds in “My Life Journey So Far”

As my New Year’s resolution for 2008, I decided to seek financial coaching for some guidance on how to minimize our family’s losses as the US economy kept going on a downward spiral.

It did not help that I had to decrease my work hours as I began to experience progressive decline of functioning due to “Compassion Fatigue” after just almost fully recovering from years and years of Chronic Fatigue symptoms.

So-called “Compassion Fatigue” tends to afflict men and women who work with people who have undergone traumatic experiences. The symptoms are similar to those with PTSD except in this case the trauma is secondary and not personally experienced.

Thank the Good Lord, I am back on the saddle again except that I am now heading another direction. The Almighty, in His infinite Wisdom, once again used the occasion to redirect my path. Indeed, very often my patients would hear me say in various terms that “Our Awesome God” is not a God of Waste. He does have a way of recycling our negative life experiences to make something good and beautiful out of them.

After having successfully navigated through Medical School, partial Residency training in Pathology (1 year), complete Residency Training in General Psychiatry (4 years) and additional Fellowship Training in Geriatric Psychiatry (1 year), I embarked on yet another educational journey albeit of a different kind.

For the early part of this leg of my journey, I chose the vessel “Prosper , Inc” where I was assigned two coaches to oversee my training. One to serve as my guide for “Financial Planning” and another for “Wealth Building”. As I arrived at a pivotal crossroad of my life journey, both my coaches and all my assigned as well as optional readings and webinars illuminated the path toward financial stability and security. Clearly the different roads that lead to it represent various types of business endeavors.

My financial and business coaching program involved reading many books by the financial gurus, attending webinars and group conference calls as well as one on one personalized coaching by phone.

In the process I have been empowered to become an entrepreneur who would set up and maintain multiple streams of income, which along with debt elimination and positive cash flow management would increase my chance of surviving the downward cycles of the economy this time as well as in the future.

It may be a long road to financial freedom, but my financial coaching has taught me that it is never to late to embark in this particular journey.

Multilevel Marketing or Direct selling Business-the next logical step

Some of the other books were by best selling authors like Robert Allen (Multiple Streams of Income and Multiple Streams of Internet Income and Robert Kiyosaki (who wrote over a dozen best selling books including Rich Dad Poor Dad and Why We Want You To Be Rich-co authored with Donald Trump). Both Allen and Kiyiosaki strongly endorsed direct selling business or multilevel marketing to their readers and followers.

This opening paragraph from the book “Multiple Streams of Internet Income” by Robert Allen simply put it in a nutshell for me.

Based on my performance, my sponsors and mentors have noted that I am in the fast track to becoming a very successful direct seller or network marketer

Once I was convinced that MLM was the way to go for me (besides it is the only business I could realistically afford to start at the moment anyway), as a woman of faith and prayer I asked for divine direction in choosing the network marketing company I would join.

I felt providentially led to three very profitable MLMs:two that sell superior quality Health and Wellness Products (Juice Plus, LHN) and one that markets personal development webucation ( Success University).

Joyful Anticipation As I Have Begun Another Success Journey

I can definitely say that I have had a most rewarding and fulfilling career as a physician. All the knowledge and skills I gained out of it, along with the insights and lessons learned from early life and more recent experiences, without a doubt have prepared me for this next phase of my Life Journey.

Anyway, of the three MLM’s I have joined and yes, I am equally passionate about all three… I am thinking that Success University may have a quicker return of my investment but in the long run who knows which one will bring me greater wealth. Only time will tell. For one thing, with Success University there is no competition as none of the other Personal Development Programs are sold through MLM so I have found this niche easier to sell but that is just my personal experience.

Enrolling students in a university that has the likes of Zig Ziglar and Jim Rohn, surely must be be less challenging than selling products that prospective buyers would be ingesting which tends to raise all kinds of apprehensions like safety issues or the arguments about similar products being sold at much lower price at discount stores, etc. I have found that by giving my prospective clients free samples to try first they realize that indeed the products I sell is definitely more effective and tolerated than the ones they buy at the retail stores.

I Have Become Network Marketer of Health and Wellness Products

Don’t get me wrong. I signed up with Juice Plus and LHN because I believe in their products that have tremendously helped me and my family achieve health and maintain wellness . After all, Juice Plus and LHN products have come highly recommended because of their evidence based safety and health benefits; by reputable scientists and esteemed physicians who have used the products themselves. I have found that by giving free samples to try first , my clients realize that indeed the products I sell are definitely more effective than the ones they bought from the retail stores, many of which also tended to cause side effects. The Juice Plus and LHN products do sell themselves; if we can just persuade our prospective buyers to give them a try. Which is why the distributors are being highly encouraged to give away free samples.;

More Time for my Passions and this Mission

Reducing my clinic hours also have freed up some daytime hours which have allowed me to create and develop the Overcome Fatigue website fueled by my passion to reach out to others who have also faced challenges due to unrelenting fatigue. In time, as the businesses I have set up would flourish and prosper I hope to be able to resume or increase back the donation and the service that I give to the other causes I am also very passionate about. I am looking forward to spending more time with family who live locally, friends and fellow members of a prayer community that I belong; more frequent visits with my Philippine family and grandchildren in another state. It is not about the money after all. It is about the freedom to be able to do all of the above.

In conclusion, I would like to state that even though my journey may have taken me to another direction, I am still very much into Health and Wellness as you can see. This only serves to reinforce what I have already earlier stated, “My dear Heavenly Father is not a God of Waste!”

We will all agree that R & R or ( Rest and Relaxation is also important for our health and well being. But sometimes the cost can be prohibitive. Through this business R & R has not only become more affordable but financially rewarding as well.
